Crawley Careers Fair | Coast 2 Capital LEP
On Tuesday 26th September, we exhibited at the Crawley Careers Fair, which was hosted at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley. This event was run by the Coast to Capital LEP and we were invited by Alison Constable to exhibit. We were able to inform students, their parents and their teachers about the benefits about apprenticeships and the benefits for companies to have apprentices. As we have several apprentices of our own, we invited them to come along to give a first-person point of view of how they find their courses.
The event was organised by Phil Webber and Alison Constable from the Coast to Capital LEP. The event was aimed at Secondary Schools from around the Crawley area for students from Year 7 to Year 11. The structure of the day was 10 am – 4 pm being only for students from schools in the Crawley area to come in and speak to the various, businesses, colleges apprenticeship providers and universities. After that from 4 pm – 6 pm, parents were able to come with their children to speak to the various stands to understand more about the options their children have for their future careers.
The day was very busy with students from many different schools coming throughout the day. We were very surprised at the number of students who were interested in becoming accountants. As we had our Trainee Accountant, Sophie Webb on our stand, she was able to explain her journey from secondary school, to where she is now at Merranti Accounting. It seemed that the students took value in finding out first-hand how someone who has been through that journey has found their experience.
Our next event will be at Net XP on Thursday 27th September, come and visit us on stand 108 at the South of England Showground.
